#117: THE (INTERNATIONAL) NOISE CONSPIRACY - “the subversive sound of the conspiracy” aka “the sin crusade”
the cover of this 7” is a little weird. actually i thought the 7” is called “the subversive sound of the conspiracy” and there are three songs on it (“a new identity for the bored”, “creative/noncreative stimulation for the urban terrorist”, “autodestruction in the name of liberation”). but when you are listening to the record you clearly figure out that there are only two songs on it. and because of being pedantic sometimes i needed to do some research. the 7” was released on transsolar records and their website says that the 7” is called “the sin crusade” and there are two songs (“the sin crusade”, “airports”) on it. so somehow the packaging is really confusing. but nevermind.
there are quite a lot of THE (INTERNATIONAL) NOISE CONSPIRACY-7”s in my collection. because of being into SEPARATION and REFUSED a lot, i really was curious how the band of lars (strömberg) and dennis (lyxzén) will sound like. and i really liked their 60ies-punk/protopunk/garagerock a lot right from the beginning. i’ve seen them live a couple of times and it was great every time.
the two songs on the 7” are really good as well. i’m no expert on the 60ies original stuff, but somehow THE SONICS come to my mind, but the garagerock-influence is there already. if you see this record somewhere, it’s worth getting it.
#68: D.S.-13 - “thrash and burn”
i was quite surprised to see that this is a 6”. i thought it’s another 7” in my collection. “thrash and burn” is one of the best D.S.-13-releases, i think. the tiny sticker on the cover says everything: “fast!”. the 9 songs (recorded in september 1998) are really fast and are way less punk than their earlier stuff. fastcore or old-school-hardcore, i would say. my favourite one is “youth crue uber alles” - again because of the singalongs.
and the song “david sandström” has some funny lyrics: “david sandström i refused är en jävla kukskalle” which means something like “david sandström from refused is a dickhead”. please correct me, if i’m wrong (i’m talking about the translation, not about david sandström - i don’t know him personally).
#5: 93 MILLION MILES FROM THE SUN - “…and counting”
lots of the bands that existed - let’s say - before 1998 don’t really have a web-past. so it’s really hard to find out that much about those bands. 93 MILLION MILES FROM THE SUN for example. i just know that the singer of SAIDIWAS was playing/singing there. i mean - if you hear his voice it’s obvious. and i think dennis of REFUSED was playing there as well. that’s something you even find out on the web nowadays. but the rest - hm? the first 93 MILLION MILES FROM THE SUN-songs i heard, were on the “love is a dog from hell”-compilation. “campsite closed” is an awesome song. the three tracks on the “…and counting”-7” are quite okay, but not that great. it sounds like SAIDIWAS and swedish-indie-rock with hardcore-past.
p.s.: on the backcover of the “love is a dog from hell”-compilation it says that jon (REFUSED), dennis (REFUSED), erik (SAIDIWAS) and jonas (SCARED) were in the band.
